![]() "Solid wrought" under that, though none say that part is in a semicircular pattern. Looking around then 'net, I strongly suspect it's a "Peter Wright", as the references say the name was arranged: Last, there's a deeply-stamped "I" off to the lower left, and a similar "O" stamped on the lower right. The third line is almost certainly "PATENT", and there appears to be the vague trace of a semicircular or U-shaped logo or name below that. The middle row is almost entirely obscured, though I can see the ghost of a "T" at the end. The two things I can can determine are first, the letters are stamped into the anvil, not cast in, and if you look at the big honkin' photo, you can see a definite "P" and "E", with what might be a "T" next, something else, and then possibly an "N" or "M". I tried the old chalk trick, but that did little good, with the surface as cratered as it is. Unfortunately, in its clearly extensive life, the name of the anvil maker has been severely beat upon, and is almost entirely obscured. The anvil has certainly seen better days, but it rings nicely which suggests some decent steel. The latest pile is some blacksmithing gear- a little worn, a lot rusty, but definitely servicible. er, wonderful treasures, I'm trying to ID some of the bits, to get an idea of both quality and in some cases, value. ![]() ![]() As I continue to haul home more useless ju. ![]()
